Good morning people. Apologies for not posting in a while, things have been pretty hectic, but I felt today was a good time to get up to speed with everything United. Since I posted last we have won another 2 games to make it 5 out of 5. We must keep up this momentum if we are to regain some silverware this season, but well done lads keep it up.
I thought on Saturday we badly missed Scholes and Rooney. The link up play between the midfield and the strikers (well Saha) was particularly bad. We adopted our cavalier approach as usual, but I felt that there was that man lacking to link the play up and therefore attacks broke down. Saha was accused of wasting chances, but I genuinely feel that he was isolated for long periods of the game. He had no support and any chances that he did create he had to do all off his own back. Full credit to the Frenchman for his work ethic, he literally never stops trying. Ronaldo was on incredible form as well, in fact most of our opportunities game through him, it was a shame he was banned for last nights game as I think he would have made a real impact for us. Anyhow Giggs got us the goal and defensively we looked solid.
Last night brought a battle of Britain Clash against Celtic. What a game!! To Celtics credit I thought hey played extremely well, they didn’t sit back and roll over as many had expected, but the return of Rooney and particularly Scholes brought the fluidity back to our play. We were sloppy at the back, Ferdinand especially was the cause of the first goal.
Worryingly Giggs had to come off with a darned hamstring injury. With Park out for 3 months as well it leaves us worryingly weak on the left hand side. Does anyone have any ideas of who we will play on the left flank against Arsenal. I really hope that Rooney doesn’t get stuck out on the left like he did for periods last night. As a player he is wasted out there, he becomes frustrated and that ruins his play even more. We need him bursting through the centre on Sunday, terrorising that weak Arsenal defence.
All in all I think it was a fair result for us. Ok it was not a penalty, but created so many chances, the slick passing and attack mindedness was back for all to see. I think it will serve as a stark warning for Arsenal who visit the theatre of dreams on Sunday.
In a fantasy football update, congratulations to Rob hill and Jack Fernie who are sitting at the top for now. Im sitting nicely in 5th only 3 points off the chase so watch out boys! Who was your star man in your team and who do you think would be a good buy?

i thought it was fairly strange that United reserves beat celtic 5-0 (was it?) at Parkhead in pre-season, but we struggled slightly yesterday, conceding 2 goals with our full strength team out. the most important point is that we beat them, and we must really continue this winning momentum
I would have thought Richardson would play on the left on Sunday. With Park and Giggs out for a spell this would be a good opportunity for him to step things up a bit. It would also be interesting to see Evra play there without having to defend too much. Either way, let's not have either Rooney on the left or Ronaldo on the left with Ole stuck out on the right.
As for FF League, not the best start for FC TKK but the season is young!
TKK you have it all to do this week in th FF league, only one point! perhaps you will do a Sunderland.
I agree we cannot have Rooney stuck out on the flanks, it's such a waste of his talent. Ronaldo is ok out wide because he takes people on, cutting inside. Ole showed his prowess in front of goal on wednesday. The baby faced assassin still has it!
By 3pm last Saturday I was on -4 points so it was getting more like Juventus rather than Sunderland!
finally! i get to see the boys play....admittedly on telly and admittedly via ESPN2 but nevertheless i got to see the mid week battle with celtic. the joys of living in the states and not having fox sports world!
pretty nice game too. agreed: we looked scary at the back, and to be honest i thought van der sar left himself wide open for the first goal...i can't imagine a certain peter schmeichel allowing that one in but i mustn't get nostalgic.
rooney a bit lacking in mental match fitness but showed what he'll do on sunday against arsenal if, as you all hope, he doesn't get stuffed out on the left.
it's funny, i find there's quite a lot of agreement about our players and where they are best (at least on this blog) and yet SAF doesn't always register that! let's hope he keeps it simple this year and plays people where they enjoy it best. and i for one would love to find out what evra can do if he's allowed to.
ok...i'll keep my fingers crossed that i can find a telly to watch the match on sunday.
