Can Tevez fill Rooney's boots?

Can Tevez fill Rooney's boots? That is the question on most United fans lips today as we face the prospect of being without our star man for 2 months, possibly longer. There was a lot of talk before Tevez signed for us that he was too similar to Rooney and that there was no way that they could play together. Now that is not a statement that I agree with, but if there was ever to be a time for Tevez to endear himself to the United fans, now would most definitely be it.

Tevez has vowed to win over the United fans hearts and minds, he is the kind of player who is easily adored. At West Ham last season, he took the burden of a relegation threat upon his shoulders and made it his personal crusade the club from impending disaster. Now he must do the same, take over the mantle from Rooney and keep the front line alive and well & truly kicking. We have faith in you Carlos, we know that you can do it.

It seems that Tevez will make his debut against Portsmouth tomorrow night, earlier than Ferguson had anticipated. It promises to be a fiery encounter, where nothing less than victory will suffice. Can Carlos Tevez carry on where Rooney left off, let me know here?

i don't really think he is good enough. he was really struggling against our city rival. especially at the corner in the last 5 minutes when he could equalise the score by an easy touch of head, how could he miss that? i don't get it. i do think tht we need some tall guy. torres was a perfect choice but he preferred liverpool than us. an experience striker with a golden touch would be ideal. we should try to sign anelka or huntelaar, his(huntelaar) goalscoring ratio is amazing. and today(19/08/07) he has a hat-trick against de graafschap, he should be a good choice too. anyway i am really frustating about our situation when rooney is injured, ronaldo got red card by a stupid ref. how can we manage all of tht? 0-0 aganist reading, 1-1 against pompey and 1-0 defeated to our city rival which is a shame. i hope they will play better.

Now that he's broken his duck against Chelsea, expect the flood gates to open like they did at west ham.

But can he and Rooney play together?
