Smith Loan Deal

The Press are reporting that Smith is on his way to Cardiff in a loan deal. I have the utmost confidence in Sir Alex, but if he goes, who do we have to cover for Roney and Saha. With Rossi and Smith on loan and Solskjaer injured, it leaves me wondering.... Do we have someone coming in at christmas???? Start dreaming guys, who do you want and why?

How about Freddy Eastwood? ;)

I've just read on BBC.co.uk about the loan deal and although my initial response was "No way!", perhaps on reflection it might not be all bad. Considering he hasn't played as a striker on a regular basis for quite some time, maybe it wouldn't be bad for him to get a guaranteed regular spot at Cardiff (unlike the Rossi situation) where he can bang some goals in and get his confidence back. Part of me wonders if it wouldn't do Richardson some harm to go out on loan again, as it doesn't seem to be happening for him right now, and I thought with Park out this really would have been his opportunity to impress.

The lack of cover does worry me though, and I'd like to see Rossi being recalled from Newcastle if Smith is going out on loan.

Rossi is wasted in Newcastle. Ive seen him play for them a couple of times and he looks class! A bit small but class.

I'm not sure whether Smith would fancy Championship football, even if it were only for a month. If he needs matches then why not play him every game in the reserves, despite the lower level it is a safer way for him tor egain fitness and confidence.

Although i've heard he's injured at the moment, if fabien brandys around to cover Saha and Rooney then all isn't lost, he looks like he could be the next big thing from our academy.

I agree that by February we need top class cover for Rooney and Saha, if not a partner in the form of Torres. His price tag still worries me for such an untested young spaniard though, despite his great performances at the WC. Who else could we get for that money?

A couple of options might be Cassano, who is unsettled. Iaquinta and Toni, both would be able to adapt quickly to the physical nature of the premiership, which is something i fear about Torres. Elsewhere in serie A is David Suazo, the honduras forward who consistently hits the back of the net.

Outside of Italy i fancy Cavenaghi at Spartak Moscow as a good talent, Huntelaar is well linked to united and looks much better than Kuyt, who hasnt settled in with the scum too badly.

Thats quite a list, I still prefer Torres over the lot, simply due to his age, strength and speed. If only he were cheaper and we could get him, Nani and hargreaves. What a dreamworld we live in.

Thanks for reading.

i don't know much about the last few 'anyonymous' just mentioned. luca toni is great but i think he'd be more of a RVN type....we'd get stuck booting the ball into the six yd box again. i really like the openness of our play - i think it suits the current squad best.

from what i remember of the WC, torres would probably fit in nicely with our speed and openness. he reminds me of henry with his pace and i remember him liking to take players on or sprint out wide and make space for ...rooney/scholes/saha!

but whatever happens we definately need cover and i think every agent in football knows it!

i'm not sure about the smith to cardiff (or leeds) situation. i think it's the start of a transfer which is a shame cuz i think he's a classic man utd player: tough, committed, direct and a great team player...plus skillfull. but perhaps not quite what it takes and i think SAL knows it.

love to see rossi come back and stake a claim.

anyway, good result against blackburn. rooney could have had a hattrick but he seemed to want to toy with the ball not put it in the back of the net...next week!
