Manchester United Transfer News and chat

Hey guys, I know it’s not about United but did anybody see the game betweeen Liverpool and Arsenal last night in the carling cup? It ended up 6-3 to Arsenal and although I didn’t see it I really want to now, 9 goals is a real feast of action… If anyone finds it on youtube, be sure to let me know.

Anyhow back to the more important issue of United. A weeks break for the team can only be a good thing, all players should be well rested for this weekends tie against Villa (again). Plus it gives us the opportunity to talk transfers a little more and I know that is everyone’s favourite topic on this blog.

Jesus Rodrigo alerted me to a very “Real” possibility in terms of a forward. He goes by the name of Ronaldo and is having a tough time in Spain at the moment. It seems he and Backs are being blamed for the Crisis over there. Now we all know that Ronaldo loves United and we could offer an outstretched welcoming arm to a troubled player who just wants to play football. Does this scenario sound familiar? Ruud Van Nistelrooy?

I know many of you will say that Ronaldo is past his best, he is too lazy etc etc. But I for one do not think he is past it, he simply needs a new challenge. Could you honestly see him being lazy under the watchful eye of Ferguson? I for one think he would be a very reasonably priced option for a few years.

In midfield I am a little short of options, other than Parker, I don’t really know of any alternatives to Hargreaves, if anybody has any ideas be sure to post them on the blog. Yesterday I read a story about us going in for Xavi of Barcelona read the article here. Sorry but I can’t see this one happening in a million years!

For wingers we have a number of options, of course there is Nani, the highly rated Portuguese player. I think we have a strong chance of landing him if we are interested, mainly due to The Queiroz and Ronaldo links more than anything else.

Another option would be Downing, he is breaking into the England squad, but for me he is still a way off being world class. He is a player that is good, but could still go either way. He would be expensive and is it worth taking the risk? Of course it is much more likely that he would develop at United rather than Middlesbrough.

Then there is Lennon. Only 19 years old, has loads of pace and definite potential to become an England great. Problem is he has just signed a new contract at Tottenham and we all know the palaver that would follow should we wish to sign him. Lennon, like Rooney would be worth breaking the bank for in my opinion, with some players you just know that they are going to be stars and Lennon is definitely one of them!

In defence we have the Bale transfer saga. He is only 17 years old, takes a wicked free-kick and has bags of potential at such a young age. United would be a great place for him to nurture that talent. I am aorry to say this but if we were to sign him, I think Gaby Heinze would almost definitely be sold. This pains me because in his short time at United he has been a real favourite of mine. He gives his all for the team, is hard as nails and quite blatantly loves United. He reminds me of the Old SKool and would be truly devastated if he were to go.

Finally it is reported that we must pay £1.5 million if we want to extend Larsson’s loan until the end of the season. I personally think that is a waste of money. He is a great player but not worth some £500,000 per month to hold onto him. I am excited about seeing more of Rossi in the run-in. I have no doubt that he is ready for the big stage.

There've been some rumours about Rio Antonio Mavuba from Bordeaux going around, although I wonder whether that's more related to putting pressure on Bayern over Hargreaves' transfer.

The link below is one of many articles on Mavuba and United.

The Heinze situation is a difficult one. He's not just a top player but a total 100% United Player, although has been really unlucky with recent injuries. I also don't think his United career was helped by Argentina playing him so much after he'd come back from injury. I don't known whether SAF wants a real attacking threat from all the outfield players and sees Bale and Evra as fitting that more than Heinze.

It's a tough decision to make, and a reminder of the hard choices managers have to make when it comes to fan favourites like Heinze. I would be gutted to see him go.

tamon bah, cameroonian in germany,

i think lenno is good, then we can have makoun of lille as alternative for hagreaves, i really want to see rossi grow up, so larson is not needed further than we have him now.

I would hate for Heinze to go, though Evra has been playing some great football.

I'd love to see Heinze at left back, and Evra running up and down that left wing, long term replacement for Giggs. His attacking skills are obvious, and his defensive instincts would make him a true asset, running back to help out 'Hargreaves' and Carrick, before Heinze, Rio, Vidic and Wes are troubled at all.

Now that's a solid defense and a balanced midfield. As Giggs once pointed out, Cristiano Ronaldo could come back and defend a little more. That's a Dream Team to me, my friends!

Larsson is well worth any price his swedish club demands. I've studied in Glasgow and have followed him throughout his career in Celtic, Barcelona and the swedish national... and trust me on this... we do not call him GHOD for nothing.

Point by point:

* He's probably one of the smartest, most hardworking, humble player the world has ever seen. His loyalty is second to none and he turned down almost every big club in europe including Man U due to it. The concept is called character and integrity. Without it he'd probably been one of the most widely recognized players in the world. One word: RESPECT.

* He single-handedly took us to the Uefacup-finals where he scored two goals against the winner Porto (3-2) who went on the next year to win the Champions League in style.

* He seems to rise to any occation no matter what the opposition may be. He never fails to deliver when it's expected the most.

* He won the hearts of the Barcelona crowd without ever being given a real opportunity and inspite of having a serious knee injury at 33 came back to win the CL for them.

* My son refers to him as "The King"... so does my mom.

* He executes not only goals of brilliant simplistics by outsmarting the goalies, always catching them on the wrong foot... but he also spreads his bliss amongst his teammates with delicious one-timers. This will in the long run create a great team spirit and seems to have a direct effect on the flow of the game in every team he's played in.

* He demads the highest respect not only as a footballer but as a man.

* He creates massive amounts of space for his teammates with his runs. He will make a 50 meter run to draw attention. He does this every single time, in every single game, in every single moment. This is called professionalism. It's printed in his very genome.

* He will educate and set an example for Rooney and Ronaldo like he did for Ronaldinho, quoted saying: "Since I played with Larsson he's my biggest hero and idol and everything I strive to be as a footballer." Zlatan Ibrahimovic after playing with him in the swedish nationals said: "He's everything I want to be and I'm trying to learn as much as I can... both on and off the pitch."

This is probably why Fergie had no doubts on hiring him... win or loose, fail or succed... his players will benefit either way. He leads by example.

* In Celtic, Barcelona, Sweden alike... whenever or wherever he's left a club he's been recognized as a class act (I've even met highly devoted followers of GHOD from Feyenoord who feels that they where robbed of his precense) and when he left Parkhead there wasn't a single person who didn't have a tear in his or her eyes and it had very little to do with football.

* He's GHOD.

* He's the king of kings.

* He's Henrik Larsson.

* If GHOD decides to bless you with his precense and is given the confidence and recognition for his functional style of playing... you too will cry and obsess about him like millions of others when he leaves. And if... or when... he lifts the CL... completing the tripple... you'll look back at this moment and say: "I doubted GHOD. Blasfemy."

It's a promise.

i'm sold! how much should we make out the check for?!

and let's not lose heinze. he's on the pitch and the left side just feels solid. i understand SAF's fondness for fast attacking fullbacks, but i say the problem is going to be on the right side when neville hangs up his boots.

larsson to score 2 against villa.

I aint impressed with Heinze. I think Evra offers you more. After a shaky 1st year Evra has blossomed this season and should be 1st choice.

If Heinze leaves we got enough cover for Evra in Silvestre and O'Shea.
