United maintain the gap and is Ronaldo on his way?

Good morning people, appologies for not posting in a while, I have been having some serious internet issues, I hope to be sorted by the end of this week. Well what a week we have had? After the disappointing result against Arsenal, we have shown what we are made of, with victories over Portsmouth, Watford and Tottenham.

They say the sign of true champions is how they handle themselves after a defeat. If that is the case then United are showing true championship qualities. Yesterday we looked like a team in complete control of our destiny. Tottenham didn’t play badly, just United were far too strong! We picked our moments and took our chances.

There was a comical moment at the end of the game when John O’shea had to replace the injured Van Der Sar in goal for the last 10 minutes. The Irishman did brilliantly to prevent Robbie Keane in a one on one, something that will no doubt be joked about on a number of occasions on the international scene. It seems that Van Der Sar has broken his nose, so who knows how long he will be out for!

Another casualty from yesterdays game was Rooney. It seems that he will be doubtful for Wednesdays friendly against Spain. To be honest I won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t feature in the game, let’s save him for club games and concentrate on winning the treble!

In transfer news it seems that we are getting a taste of our own medicine. Barcelona are sniffing around Ronaldo again with Gill stating that we are not a club that sells players…we are not a bank etc. Sounds very similar to the Hargreaves saga to me. Of course I think we all feel the same, we don’t want Ronaldo to leave, I just hope he signs an extension with us as we all know we can’t keep a player forever against his will. I think a lot will hinge on how this season goes. If we do well in the Chanpions league he will commit his future to us, if not, who knows!

P.S here are the highlights of the Watford game:

And the Tottenham game:

hey agent...nice to see you back. and yeah what a match yesterday! thought we were close to sublime (at least after first half hour).

i just read scolari's comments about how ronaldo would be perfect at barcelona. i hate to say it but his words could be quite persuasive to ronaldo. it goes without saying that we'd all hate to see him go - like, as you say, hargreaves for bayern fans. but let's focus on the treble. i think we can take the FA and league quite easily. our champs league chances will be clearer after the lille game - i mean, if we win, i think we'll be able to see if this team has the quality and determination that is needed to win the cup, like the 99 team....well the quality is clearly there at a certain level but look at how we've fared against chelsea and arsenal this season: we play well but haven't finished it off. those teams seem perfectly able to match us when they need to.

looks though like rooney will play on wed. i agree it's nice to save him for us but his own confidence will go up considerably if he puts in a good performance for england. lineker wrote a really good piece on england and rooney in this weekend's telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2007/02/04/sfnlin04.xml

(not sure if that link will work...agent can you make it available?)

excited now for the champs league to kick off again. better than the world cup by far!
