What will United's 2nd eleven be?

Good morning United fans and thanks for all your opinions on the formation I picked for United yesterday. It seems that 2 controversial points were picked out in the comments yesterday so I would like to talk through them at more length today. It seems that this season we have a very palatable problem, in that we too many good players in the squad, just who is going to play?

The first thing that I was picked up on was that people favoured Giggs over Anderson on the left. This is a fair point, Giggs was truly immense in a number of games last season, anyone remember Benfica home? But I think that this year is going to be all about pace and movement. I expect Giggs to be saved for the big games like Liverpool and Chelsea, as he has the experience to pull the others through. Anderson will be more exciting bringing pace and dynamism to the team. I expect to see the Brazilian pitted against lower ranked teams to begin with to ease him into English football.

Up front Amey Nevrekar prefers to go with Tevez over Rooney, based on his chance conversion ratio. I think this will be Rooney's season. He spent a lot of last season out of the limelight with Ronaldo stealing the show. I think this has given him time to mature and grow his game. He has also had chance to recuperate over the summer with no games being played. This will do Rooney the world of good in my opinion. Expect to see a fresher revitalised Rooney this season.

I would like to present our alternative selection today. This would be the team that we play when we are resting key men before the big ones:

Foster

Brown, Pique, Silvestre/O'shea, Heinze

Park, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani

Tevez, Saha

Subs: Kuszczak, O'shea, Eagles, Rossi, Hargreaves

I have tried to ommit as many first team players as possible to make way for the squad players. Of course we know that Fergie always packs his bench full of stars just in case we come unstuck.

Again it's over to you now. You can have a lot more fun with this one and please feel free to continue commenting on my first team suggestion.

First Team:

Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra
Hargreaves
Ronaldo, Carrick, Nani/Anderson
Rooney
Tevez

Subs: Eagles, Heinze, Scholes, Giggs, Saha

I think this is a much stronger selection that allows a wide variety of movement of the players.
Even though I will always remain loyal to Scholes & Giggs, we need to start using them as the fall to guys like we used to do with Solksjaer. I believe that this season we will see the true potential of Carrick.

We can really say we are going for all the trophies.

Brian Adams.

Manchester United has had a comparatively weak keeper in place as compared to teams like chelsea who have peter cech and real madrid who have Casillas.

WHy doesnt MANUTD look for a keeper? Because at times Van Der Sar looks rusty
A real good keeper will make Manutd Invincible. VDS was quite errorprone in the match against AC MILAN at SAN SIRO.

Also a real good defender would do the team no harm. This was obvious in all the matches that manu lost last season. We saw some horrendous defending problems at back. Untill the defence is strong against strikers like kaka, owen, raul, van nistelrooy, etc thinking abt quadruple, triplet etc is pointless.

The Triple championship winner Manu team of 1999 had a very strong keeper in Schimeichel and a damn good and solid defensive players at the back. The current team lacks in both these departments.
The sooner these problems are addressed the better it is for manu. Even this year with all the stalwarts that have been bought in i see MnUtd winning nothing more than the Carling Cup or FA Cup and the Premiership. The Champions League cup will elude ManUtd this year also.
The author in his best 11 or second best 11 has completely eluded solskjaer. This is extremely unfair towards him(or i must not be knowing abt him being transfered out of Manutd). For what reason is he not being kept even on the benches only the author knows.
Not to forget that solskjaer has also played an imp part in Manutds success in 1999 triumphs.

Can anybody for godsake tell me as to how the current substitutions would help Manutd in a match situation that they were in the match situation against AC MILAN at San Siro?

-- some positives for Manutd now --

Nani and Anderson will help Fergie rest cristiano Ronaldo and Giggs which he could not afford last season
Tevez in the squad will put more pressure on Rooney to perform or else sit out on the Bench. A very happy situation to have in any team.
Hargreaves in the Team will help provide further options in Team Formation if an all out attak is required by introducing an extra striker and withdrawing a defender off the field
Besides, Scholes and Giggs can be used more efficiently in shorter Bursts rather than playing the whole match.
Cristiano Ronaldo will no longer be the only strike force in Manutd. This will be a big headache for opposition around the world.
A big gap wont be created if or when Giggs and Scholes retires as Nani and Anderson along with Hargreaves can fit in the scene.(By that time these set of players will be more mature in Manutd)

So all in all the future looks great for ManUtd although there are still some Hiccups in the Team which the Opposition can use to their advantage.

Note:- Any confidential and believable news on Heinze and Pique? We heard that Heinze may leave and not too sure if Fergie can keep Pique. Any word on that
Your SAY?

I don't think we'll see a 1st team/2nd team exactly. I think apart from the back four and Hargreaves, the rest will rotate completely to keep them fresh. Possibly with the notable exceptions of Ronaldo and Rooney.

It is a fine balance between keeping the same side and creating a team that knows instantly where they are and how they play, which burns out at the end of the season, and a rotational team that might not gel.

Last season, Utd got lucky that when they burnt out Chelsea were not in a position to catch them (instead getting the consolation prize of the FA Cup). They may not get so lucky this year and Fergie knows it. The problem is that the new players might not fit in properly straight away, and a few losses later we find we cannot catch Chelsea.
