Pre season update, United now the most feared in Europe!!!

Yet again it's been a long while since I posted on the blog. There has been so much going on what with the Tevez saga continuing. It now seems that West Ham are refusing to let him go, whilst the Premier league are insisting that all transfer money goes to West Ham rather than to Joorabchian.

Ferguson has come out to the press and said that he is confident that a deal can be concluded and to be honest that is good enough for me. Ferguson has always had his doubters, but we United fans know that he always get his man. Fergie is building yet another dynasty, with Tevez completing the jigsaw.

Today was a historic day. Ferguson unveiled both Hargreaves and Nani to the press. This year United fans have been living in dreamland. Nobody has bought better than United this summer, with the likes of Anderson, Nani, Hargreaves and now Tevez seemingly on his way. The thought of watching these players grace the field in 2007/2008 is simply mouth watering.

I overheard 2 Arsenal fans talking in the pub the other day, it made for quite interesting listening. They were saying that United and Barcelona are a cut above any other team in Europe and I have to say I agree with them. No other team in the Premiership can match the flair of United up front. Lets look at it for a second. We have Nani and Ronaldo on the wings, with Giggs as backup. In the centre we have the battling Hargreaves and the creative Carrick pulling the strings and for attacking prowess how does Rooney, Tevez and Anderson sit with you? Of course we still have the ginger warrior that is Scholesy boy. I feel that this year we have a truly devastating combination of youthful vengeance coupled with experience.

One last thing before I sign off. Is it me or does it seem that every star in the world is queuing up to play for United? It seemed that only last year nobody wanted to join us, we were a team in decline, Chelsea were the new force to be reckoned with. This year it's all different, we are back where we belong, at the top of the tree and long may it continue. Teams of England and Europe be afraid, be very afraid.

One last thing, I would love to hear your thoughts on formations with all our new signings, so please comment on what you think our line-ups will be!

there was a great guardian piece on the tevez signing....radio (i think) posted it on the forum. i read about half of the comments (about 50 or so!). they were all really good.

one of them went through some of the math involved in buying all these players. nani/anderson is 30m but based on appearances over at least two years. hargreaves is out of pocket but we made 50m last year for winning the league. tevez, if it goes through, is 23m (?) but again that is covered by our success in the league.

basically, the best thing about all this is that it shows that utd are a well-managed company that spends well and knows how to balance the books.

well..that's not the best thing...the best thing is: 4,2,3,1 or 4,1,4,1 or 4,2,1,3....or whatever bloody formation ronny, scholes, anderson, tevez, nani, giggs and rooney feel like playing!

for the record, i think we will play two systems next season. one based around rooney and saha, the other based around rooney and tevez. the latter will be the most interesting to watch but i think both will use the group of giggs, scholes, nani, anderson, ronny as a rotating midfield - allowing the two young new boys to get used to the EPL and give giggs a rest now and then. i don't think scholes needs a rest. i think he could keep going...and going...and going...as long as he doesn't try and tackle anyone!!

anyway, the point is, the new system in europe, at least among some teams (barca, roma, ajax, sevilla) is speed and confusion - a sort of blitzkrieg on the football pitch with talented attacking midfielders and unorthodox strikers running rings around confused defenders. this seems to be the system that SAF has been moving towards for some time and i think seeing roma use it so well in the first leg of the 1/4 final last season really made him a convert. of course, fergie just went home and said to himself, 'hm...i like it. of course we can do it much better'!!....can you say "7-1"?

that's not to say that it's the magic bullet that will knock down madrid or milan or even chelsea or liverpool (note how brilliant milan were in using classic 4-4-2 with kaka and seedorf loving their roles), but that's why we will most likely use saha in a more traditional set up.

at least that's my wild stab in the dark. i think we'll be putting the ball in the net from all over the park...my prediction: monster to score 10.

Hi Agent

Well i cant wait for the season to start, its gona be awesome. I just hope the team gels quickly and we can start dishing out footballing lessons to the Premier League teams.

My team would be, VDS, Nevs, Vidic, Ferdi, Evra, Hargreaves, Scholes, Rons, Nani, Rooney, Tevez. With subs Carrick, giggs, Andersson etc.

By the way if you get your hands on the update for Football Manager 07, can you please post it on your site for download? Its gona be awesome playing with Man U, cos we wont have to spend cash on the best talent.

Thanks

It has been a great summer. I had the pleasure of watching Anderson live at the Copa America in my country, and I also saw Tevez play at another match, I must say: we United fans are in for a treat with these kids.

As for the line-ups, Ferguson did say the younger signings would get a few games, but not all of them. So, with that in mind, it appears Giggs will feature more than Nani.

I'd like to see United play a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.

Van der Saar

Brown/Neville Ferdinand Vidic Heinze/Evra

Cristiano Hargreaves Carrick/Scholes Giggs/Nani

Anderson/Tevez

Rooney

I think Scholes could also go 'in the hole' behind Rooney, and Anderson could take a wing. In truth, the options are endless. Our squad has many versatile players, especially our attack, thay can all take a wing, the center, or go all the way up front.

I think Alan Smith can play an important part in the team, as can Mr. Utility, John O'Shea.

What we lacked last year, seems to be materializing this summer. Our squad is not only deep, we have quality back-ups!

It all makes for a great 07-08 season!

yeah i agree with the formation used. but i think instead of anderson in the first eleven, i think fergie will choose giggsy instead because he is always awesome in the first half of the season, thus his experience. Now, im glad tt we finally have good back-up players(anderson, nani, fletcher tevez) to replace the ageing or injury-prone players(saha park solskjaer). Every season, there will possibly be at least 1 or 2 important players who will get injured, so im glad tt fergie has brought in players who can step up to the occasion. however, im just worried tt the new players cant click together with the other first team players..
