Charlton Expects new signings!

There is a brief respite in fixtures until the weekend when we meet West ham who quite controversially have just sacked a great British manager, I will be ranting on this later. The mind games are in full swing between Fergie and Mourinho, be careful Jose, there is always only one winner when it comes to mind games and it certainly isn’t you. Just ask Wenger and Keegan!

There is good news coming from a press conference taken by Charlton yesterday, read the report here. He is basically stating that United will be strengthening in January, although how much remains a mystery. The vote is still going on in the forum, so if you haven’t already, let your thoughts be known.

For strikers I have the following: Huntelaar, Defoe, Torres, Aguero, Klose and Bent. Cast your vote here.

For midfield the options are: Hargreaves, Reo-Coker, Senna and Beckham. Cast your vote here.

For wingers we have: Nani, Adu, Van Der Vaart and Quaresma. Cast your vote here.

The news that Pardew had been sacked yesterday came as a great shock to me. Pardew is a great ambassador of football and a brilliant English coach. He worked miracles at West Ham despite the fans calling for his head when he first arrived. Magnusson has shown his true colours, by publicly backing Pardew then sacking him 2 weeks later, disgraceful in my opinion.

Anyhow back to the reds. We play West Ham at the weekend and looking at the fixture from a purely selfish perspective we couldn’t play them at a better time. The club is in turmoil, with no manager and a new owner. Let’s put 10 past them for Pards!

The draw for the Champions league is on Friday and debate is also raging in the forum who would you like to get and why?

Finally let’s finish with a video of some great Man Utd moments and of course it plays out to our new Man Utd anthem (you know the one). United forever!!!

Please allow me to analyse your choice for potential recruitment:

Huntelaar: I think he is a bit lightweighted and I am reserved if he is able to cope with the physical game in EPL. I have seen his goals on the Youtube video clips. Good in the air, excellent instinct in the six yard box, he has got flair. After all, he is only playing in Europe's 2nd rated league. He still has got a lot to prove and in saying that, he has potential and much room for improvement.

DEFOE: I am afraid Spurs will hold us for ransom (again!) if we decide to persue Defoe. The fact is Defoe is more likely to be Rooney's regular strike partnership for England from now on until the next World Cup or two, even Owen returns. So, it may be a good idea, just maybe.

TORRES: Definitely 1st choice. His minimum release clause has dropped to around 22 mil pounds. Development in the next 6 to 8 months will be crucial to see if we are going to get his signature.

AGUERO: Just moved to At. Madrid this season. Talking of joining us seems unrealistic and even so, definitely cost a lot. The unsuccessful of Tevez in the Premiership and the lack of faith in South American (midfielders and attackers) from Fergie, I don't see it happen.

KLOSE: Definitely not first choice in Fergie's shortlist. Good in the air but not sure if he is the type of player Fergie looking for.

BENT: Doubt if he can establish himself as first team regular if he moves to Old Trafford. More likely to be played in a rotation system or even backup. Not an ideal long term replacement for RVN.

HARGREAVES: First choice, simple as that.

Reo-Cocker: No comment.

Senna and Beckham: It will not happen for both. The chance for Beckham to return is 0%.

For all wingers you mentioned: As long as Giggs is healthy and fit, he will be here with us for another season or two until he breaks Bobby Charlton's most appearance record before he eventually retires. I don't see us splashing out money for winger in the coming season at least. I predict Stewart Downing would also be an option as a successor for Giggs.

By the way, Van Der Vaart has once stated his preference to play in a central midfield role, not as a winger.
