Man Utd take on Copenhagen

Tonight sees us take on FC Copenhagen. The news is that both Ronaldo and Giggs are fit to face the Danish outfit with Brown and Solskjaer the most likely to make way. It is crucial that we win tonight, our loss of form at home last season proved to be our undoing. We are winning games and that is the most important thing.

I must admit I am fairly excited about tonight’s game. Having Ronaldo and Rooney playing together and on form will be difficult for any team to play against. The news that Copenhagen’s captain is out should further aid our course.

It is important that we play Rooney in the hole tonight. He excels in a more central role, just behind Saha. He relishes the service he gets from Scholes, Ronaldo and Giggs and more importantly this is where he is most creative. Those fans who suggest that Rooney needs a goal are sorely mistaken. Rooney is much more than a goal scorer, he has so much more to his game than that. This was perhaps aptly demonstrated on Saturday when presented with a goal scoring opportunity, he unselfishly squared the ball only for Saha to Skew wide.

The only doubt is Henize who is still struggling from a hamstring injury. I think it is more important for him to rest in the hope that he will be fit for Liverpool on Sunday. In my opinion Heinze is the best left-back in the world and we need him back sooner rather than later.

Tonight should give us the opportunity to make our mark in Europe. With few injuries playing a weakened side, we should show our intent to put United at the forefront of European football.

I'm predicting a return to the good 'old' days when United used to hammer lesser European teams (I'm thinking in particular the games against Brondby in the 1999 season).

I'm going to be bullish and say United to win 5-0 (2 Saha, Giggs, Ronaldo and Solskjaer).

Copenhagen tonight and then the 'Pool on Sunday both at home. If I was given a draw and a win from these two games, I'd choose a win over Liverpool. Its far more important to win over Pool on Sunday than to beat Copenhagen tonight. With that in mind I hope Giggs is not overtly exerted in tonight's game because we definitely need him on Sunday at Old T.

Having said that, I think we should win comfortably against Copen tonight and I hope Rooney gets a goal. Not because the goal drought may affect him or because he needs a goal since its been a long time BUT because it will pump him up and elevate him and with the Liverpool clash next, it could be perfect timing.

We also need to make sure that we do not slip up tonight because our away game at Copenhagen is sandwiched between what will be two very tough games against Bolton and Portsmouth. Another factor to consider is our next match at Celtic will be followed immediately by the Chelsea visit. So maximum points from the first 3 is incredibly important so that we can ease a bit to concentrate on these important games in the Premiership.

Match Prediction:
I think we'll win 4-1 tonight with Rooney getting one of 'em. Wish I was in OT tonite. :( :(
