Woeful England and the forthcoming Man Utd fixtures.

Well another woeful display from England, where player endeared themselves. These are supposed to be 11 of our best players in the game and I think that they need to take a long hard look at themselves and decide if they truly want to represent their country. There were thousands of fans who made the trip over to Croatia and for what? To watch an arrogant disinterested team get humiliated in front of a vibrant Croatian Support. All I can say is… Bring back the domestic fixtures.

Ok that is all I will say about the Internationals, apart from a well done to Wales who bounced back from that horrific defeat at the weekend. They showed more character than the England team have in a long time. Great show guys.

Rooney looks to be regaining some of his confidence again. As poor as the game was, Wayne looked a little more comfortable on the ball. He did squander perhaps England’s only chance, but based on last nights performance he hardly got a chance to warm his shooting boots up. He kept dropping deeper and deeper in an attempt to get the ball and create something with it. Forgive me but isn’t that the midfielders job? Ok I’m talking internationals again! At least there are no more until March!

Looking ahead we have to crucial must win games, away to Wigan and at home to FC Copenhagen. It is crucial that the players hit the ground running, particularly our England squad players who will no doubt be deflated after the recent humiliations. I am hopeful of a return of Ryan Giggs to the setup, how we have missed him. I think he will get 45 minutes if he’s fit! Has anyone heard anymore about Henize? It would be great to have him back for the midweek game against Copenhagen.

The team against Wigan should be: VDS, Evra, Rio, Vidic, Neville, Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs/Richardson, Rooney, Saha. We should stick with the 4-4-2 as that’s how we play our best football. It’d be great to see Rooney nick a goal as I think he is long overdue. Hopefully Saha has recovered from his injury niggles. If we lose him we are in big trouble. What are your thoughts?

In other news it seems that Ronaldo is a big fan of Nani. I think he could help sway a deal for him as they both speak the same language and Ronaldo could help him adapt to the English lifestyle. I’m probably reading into the situation too much, but hey we all love the speculation.

Roll on the weekend!

Hi, not to dwell on the international fixtures too much, but just wanted to point out the fantastic performances of 18 year old Jonny Evens (Man Utd youngster currently on loan at Antwerp) for Northern Ireland. Having been drafted into the side after their disasterous 3-0 loss to Iceland he has been instrumental in shoring up their defense which has provided the platform for their excellent form in beating Spain and Lativa in Belfast and drawing with the Danes in Copenhagen. Reminds me of Denis Irwin with his composure and drive. I am a big fan of both Henize and Evra but I also feel that players coming through should get an oppertunity just like the Nevilles, Scholes, Beckham, Butt etc. got. It really comes down to how Ferguson (and/or our next manager) handle these youngsters but I feel Evans could have a bright future (in the mould of Gary Neville and Irwin) if brought through correctly. Just thought I'd highlight this positive note from the internationals. Anyone else see any of Evans?

Liam thanks for bringing a positive point of view to the interbational scene. Personally I can't stand internationals in the middle of the season, i feel it disrupts the flow of things. But looking at it from your point of view it provides a great opportunity for the youngsters to play at international level which can only mean great things for them. I didn;t see him play, but I know Fergie has raved about him in the past. I too would like to see our new batch of "kids" get the same opportunites as the class of the "90's" did.

Another positive note from the internationals is that Saha scored for France. I hope that means he's fit enough to play for United this week.

Some say we don't need a winger, and I agree that a central midfielder (Hargreaves) should be our top priority. A striker should come number two. However, if an unexpected talent comes along, like Nani, then why not, go for it.

Defenders were not our priority last january, yet Evra and Vidic have been valuable additions to the squad.

I think Richardson is very good, but somehow he doesn't get the chances. It seems SAF would rather play Fletcher on the right and Cristiano on the left whenever Giggs is unavailable.

A long term replacement for the unreplaceable Giggs will be hard to find, but United must think about it, and start bringing in left wingers. I'm a huge fan of Vicente, but getting him to leave Valencia would take a miracle. That is where someone like Nani would come in. SAF loves to sign this type of player: relatively unknown talent, not too expensive, turns out to be a wonderkid, like Cristiano.

United must keep winning!

Ro I was thinking about this today and I actually think that we do need a winger more than a striker. With Giggs and PArk injured, we have no cover. Richardson has looked slack and isnt making the step up. Perhaps a couple of the games in the carling and fa cup will help that who knows. I know little of Nani, but we should definately be scouting him with the Ronaldo link and all!

I've seen a date given of Oct 21 (in the Guardian) for Heinze returning from injury.
