Man Utd to take on Copenhagen and Transfer discussion

Wednesday sees us take on FC Copenhagen in the European cup. A draw will see us through to the next round with 2 games to spare. We have seen a dramatic turnaround this season from last and look like a team that could challenge for top honours!

Ferguson said as much in an interview this weekend. In his opinion winning the champions league only once during his time as manager is not acceptable, with the Scot admitting he desperately wants to land the title one last time before he hangs up his management boots.

Just because we only need a point to qualify does not mean that we should take our foot off the gas on Wednesday. We should go out there full of the same desire and intention as we have in our recent games. Remember Benfica? We were lucky to come away with a victory there, we looked like a team that lacked confidence in our own ability… until we scored! After that we looked like a team galvanised by the goal and could have had 3 or 4 more. For that reason we must keep up the momentum.

Have you got an idea for first team selection for Wednesday? If so post it here or in the forum or in the comments in the blog.

There has also been a few rumours flying around that if we qualify for the next round of the champions league, Ferguson will be handed a kitty of £25 million to spend over the Christmas transfer period. Other than Hargreaves, who would you spend it on and why? I think a winger is essential as we seem a little deflated in that area if Giggs gets injured. The big question is who?

Well that’s enough ramblings from me today, please feel free to comment, or if you want to start your own topics with other fans, why not join the forum here

Yeah we need serious back up for Giggs. What about the kid at Sporting Lisbon - Nani? He has been mentioned a few times in the press recently but I know nothing about him. I know we have Park but I see him more as a utility player and not someone whose name would automatically be on the team sheet.

I agree with radio deadon, having seen some highlights of Nani he looks like he could be the next Ronaldo. However, SAF really rates Park JS and when he returns from injury I expect to see more of him to save Giggs' legs for the crunch games. I still think an injury to Scholes or Carrick could seriously harm our chances, despite Fletchers much improved performances this year and therefore we may be more in need of another central midfielder.

Maybe Januarys too soon for Hargreaves, especially as he is still on the comeback from injury and would be cuptied for Europe.

Beckham appears to have ruled out a move from Madrid today and a return to United looks unlikely. His Madrid teamate Cassano looks on his way though after slating the management for lack of opportunities. At a cutprice he could be a great signing for United if Torres decides to stay at Athletico.

With £25million to spend i'd expect 2 signings in January, at the moment I would predict Nani and possibly Castillo, although I know little about him he seems perpetually linked to us and SAF tried to sign him before only for him to fail in getting a work permit.

But if we don't get anyone and the current squad stays fit I certainly won't be complaining.

Haven't we got Park as back up for Giggs?

Park is injured at the moment and although I would love to see more of him I still think we need one more winger. Just my 2 cents though!
