Man Utd to take on Copenhagen and Liverpool!

We approach this week with optimism. A fantastic victory against Wigan sets the team up to drive their impressive displays forward. Giggs is almost back, Rooney is looking great again and Heinze can’t be far off making a recovery. Life is good, for the time being anyway.

Tuesday sees us take on FC Copenhagen in the champion’s league. Another victory is essential if we to maintain our dominance in the group stages. If we play our own game, 4-4-2 as we did in the second half against Wigan we should be too much for them.

Next weekend it is the penultimate game of the season. Old rivalry’s come to the fore as United take on the dreaded scousers. After last years humiliating exit in the 5th round of the fa cup, we need some payback. The Liverpool fans treatment of Smith when he was taken away in an ambulance was disgusting. No player should have missiles thrown at them, whilst they are lying there with a horrific injury. Hopefully Gary Neville will get the boys together in the dressing room and say "let’s do it for Smudger".

It’s refreshing to hear the commentators say that Liverpool have blown their title chances when it’s only October. Already they lie 8 points behind us and if we beat them on Saturday it would be 11, a gap that would leave them forever playing catch-up.

In other news, it seems United are being linked with every player under the sun again and it’s only October. Freddy Adu, Huntelaar and Fernandes were all linked to United over the weekend, admittedly most came from the News of The World. It does raise the important issue of who we will sign this Christmas. The Glazers are yet to cough up any cash for decent transfers and it is high time they did so. United are the biggest club in the world and we deserve decent signings should we need them.

Wayne Rooney is set to open contract talks with United about a contract for life. What do fans think about this? Is it great that the one of the brightest players in world football wants to commit to us for the remainder of his career? Or is it too premature to offer a player such a long deal?

Before I sign of this morning, I found a couple of videos that you may well find entertaining.

Decent performance against Copenhagen but we will need to be much improved in front of goal against Liverpool on Sunday.

Carrick needs to improve a lot! He's beginning to remind me of Veron - occassional nice pass, runs around a lot but doesn't do much tackling which as the defensive midfielder he should be doing. Without the 'ginger one' in midfield we would have been bollocks - god bless Scholesy. Evra is another one who still needs to improve - he gets caught in possession when going forward too often, he needs to think a bit quicker.

The match against Liverpool will give us a much better impression as to where this team is at. I think the fixture list so far this season has been very favourable to us and I'm not sure if we are actually as good we we appear to be.
