United seal easy win against Celtic as Scholes rules supreme.

Paul Scholes yesterday proved he is still a force to be reckoned with as the start of the premiership draws ever closer. The Salford lad fired 2 excellent goals into the back of a lacklustre Celtics net as United sealed a 3-0 victory over their Scottish rivals.

Defender Jonathan Evans slotted home after just 8 minutes in an end to end game that United largely dominated. Scholes, the United skipper, scored twice after the break as they looked to capitalise on a Celtic defence that clearly looked worryingly out of shape just weeks before the Scottish season commences.

There had been doubts that Scholes 31 was losing the ability to compete at the top level as he approached the end of his glittering career. However both Ferguson and Giggs have been quoted in the media as being delighted with the return of Scholes saying he is more determined than ever to bring the title back home to Old Trafford.

The return of Scholes, Heinze and Solskjaer has been deemed by Ferguson and Giggs as the same as 3 new signings much to the distaste of many Utd fans. However this may have been taken out of context with Ferguson openly admitting that he is trying to bring midfield reinforcements in before the season starts. With the papers today linking Mascherano to Manchester United it remains to be seen as to whether this is for real or just idle tabloid gossip. I guess only time will tell.
