Manchester United transfer targets only 3 days to go!

So the news today is that Owen Hargreaves is not moving to Manchester United despite his best efforts to engineer a move to Old Trafford. This leaves the red devils with 3 days to find a midfield replacement for Keane and unfortunately the signs don’t look good.

Hargreaves would have completed a new-look midfield at old Trafford. It would be entirely English and provide defensive grit along with attacking creativity. Scholes Carrick and Hargreaves are 3 completely different players and would have provided options a plenty. Alas it was not to be, until January at least.

The big question now is… with only 3 days remaining in the transfer window who should we be bringing in. My suggestion would now be Reo-Coker. This was mentioned a long time ago on this blog and the more I think about it the more it makes sense. He could be acquired for £12 million and will run his socks off for his club.

If we don’t go for anyone before the window closes, can we afford to wait until Christmas in our attempts to lure Hargreaves from Bayern? I think it is a big risk and one the club shouldn’t be taking. We need a defensive mid before Thursday!

In other news, we are looking to sign Trezeguet from Juventus for £10 million, whilst Arsenal are poised to land Tevez for an astonishing £17 million. Does anyone else think this is crazy? Surely Tevez is worth splashing an extra £7 million for. It would crush me to see the gooners land such a talented player with youth on his side. Tevez deserves to wear the United shirt!

Our next three games are crucial. We must beat Tottenham, Celtic and Arsenal to maintain the pressure in both the premiership and the champions league. With Rooney and Sholes back after Tottenham, we will be approaching full strength and should be able to give Arsenal and Celtic a real drumming. All three games are at home so there can be no excuses.

As always your comments are welcomed.

Great start, pity that united have messed up in the market.

On the positive side, at least we can now get on with what football is really about, playing, and forget all of the garbage that the press has been dishing out. I don't think there is any point bringing in any panic buys, they've got to be quality or not at all. Lets hope we're suprised in the next few days.

Man U have made the biggest mistake ever since SAF has been there

If Hargreaves doesnt come in the next few days, he wont come till next summer at the earliest. He would be cup tied in Europe in the January transfer window and that wont appeal to Man United.

Why oh why is Ferguson bidding for Trezeguet?! He would be a waste of £10m in my opinion, i honestly believe that Solskjaer is a better player, Trezeguet wouldnt bring anything new to us!!

Ferguson needs to make a double swoop for Tevez and Mascherano! We can always dream cant we?!

Why does fergi do this! Prance around saying we won't buy quickly because there is plenty of time and we don't need to panic, then last 3 days still in the same situation yet i would say Trez is the panic button!

Tevez would be great, if its true that we are willing to pay £17mill for Trez why not for Teves!

Macherano...is he too obvious a target for fergi? Plus i doubt he would cost £17mill like it would have done for Owen and it has done for Diarra.

One more point...Klose would be perfect in the striking department.

Klose would be a good option up front and we can fulfil his champions league playing requirements. On the other hand I fear he may lack some of the pace that this team is being founded upon. I think that's why RVN had to go, he was getting too slow and disrupting the flow of play. Tezez is much quicker and would suit our style a lot more I feel. Couple this with the fact that he wants to leave and is an admirer of manchester united, you would think thi is a done deal. I know it probably won't happen though which is a shame. I will be screwing if he goes to Arsenal!!!! Midfield-wise we need someone but I am fresh out of ideas. I have banded the same names around for the past month, but nothing has come of any of them... Come on Fletcher and O'Shea I guess!

A lot of people seem to be very excited by Tevez. I, on the other hand, don't think we need him. Too similar to Rooney.

The Trezeguet rumor disturbs me as well. On many levels. Foremost, many people have been very excited about the fact that with Ruud gone, the attack has been much more fluid. Well, Le Trez is even less mobile than Ruud.

I'd like to see us hold off on another forward until Torres becomes available. I think Saha, Smith, Ole, Rossi and Rooney can get us through the season.

I still think the midfield needs stregthening. Now. Reo-Coker? Not sure he's ready. But just the same, I'd like to see him come on board as one for the future. I'd like to see Man U take a note from Tottenham and buy more promising youngsters early.

Other than that...I think we're out of options. We've waited too long to do business. Which is baffling to me. Has anyone seen the Norwegian lad play? Can't remember his name but I've heard good things.
